Yes indeed. I visited at the tail end of Covid (fall 2021), which helped. But more importantly -- and the reason I got those empty room shots -- I showed up 20 minutes before opening and was first in line to get in.
I had the rooms to myself for about 5 minutes and found them enjoyable for about 20-25 minutes. By 25 minutes after opening, though, the crowds were unbearable (I have a very low crowd tolerance). I can't imagine visiting in the afternoon.
I had one of the greatest experiences of art in my life at MoMa with their Lillies and I wept and I wept and to see the world through Monet’s eyes! The visceral experience, the sheer scale of them, the color, the light! Only in such an immersive experience is such a powerful moment possible. I’ll never forget it. The whole world fell away, all the people, and it was just me and the sublime. A truly extraordinary moment of transcendence and joy.
Yes! MoMA has a great set! I was trying to remember where that set was; I remember it well but don’t have many photos of it. But it’s a room off to the side from the main galleries, right, with like 4 big canvases? Thanks for sharing your experience and reminding me where it was!
One of the best museums in Paris. It can be quite crowded though.

They limit the number of people who can get in at any given time so you get enough room to breath inside, but there can be a very long line.
