Thanks! There are a lot of the original gothic elements in the nearby Opera Museum. I showed a few photos from there in my post but there are more. Not sure if there’s much more that and the original gothic elements that are inside on the ground floor.
Wonderful article! I’m a huge fan of the Opera del Duomo Museum. They did an amazing job organizing it, and the treasure trove of objects and architectural information there blows my mind. 🙌
I personally love the bapistery. Like many other contemporary italian works, it almost anticipates the architectural taste of a few centuries ahead. The preaumbulum to the Renaissance if you will. It's obviously no surprise that some italian romanesque currents mantain closer ties with classicism, but I still find it interesting how close they come to be in some ocassions, like right here
Yes, the baptistry is great. Unfortunately, my few photos of it are all terrible, so except for the exterior shots in this post, I decided not to include ot discuss it.
Your photos absolutely made my morning! I’m interested in the original Gothic design, are there any drawings or models of it?

A great introductory article to this magnificent cathedral!
Thanks!
I really enjoyed King’s book on the dome years ago. Now it feels time for a re-reading.
